Florida Forest fire as it approaches Highschool- 2 vids

Tweet   Filmed by student as the fire starts encroaching on HS. This is but One of the fires I’ve been working on this week. Have not had any rain lately,humidity has been low with a high Haines Index . I took some video of this fire with my new droid camera (Droid Clik 2), but I haven't figured out how to transfer it yet. I'll have one of my daughters help me or do it. The fire is laying down at night More..and then comes back with a vengeance during the day. Most of the fire is now in the swamps which makes for fighting it miserable.Tracked vehicles are of little use because they get bogged down. As with most fires in the Deep South,they move slower then the ones out west but burn much hotter because of the fuels burned.The vegetation here contains some volatile oils,making it burn hot and very smokey.The smoke itself is much more irritable to the lungs and eyes then I am used to with fires out West. Had this fire been out West,those kids would have been long evacuated, as a Western Wildland fire would be on top of them before the end of the video. 2nd video is a Helicopter Bambi Bucket operation using one of many ponds in the area.This fire caused an airport to shut down for awhile(Bob Sikes Airport,Crestview) Any questions,feel free to ask.I gotta hit the shower now,kids say I stink.Dog runs away from me.
