Also known as "Little Otis" to all the Big Time blues stars throughout the world, Cortez is well respected for his electrifying voice and for being one of the first baritones to reach popularity in the bar blues industry. He uses his great voice to deliver his songs with plenty of experience and pure emotion. Cortez has also 'lined up' some of the most popular blues and R&B singers of the 20th Century. And as the exclusive distributor of "Mama Cortez' Louisiana Pork Rinds" Little Otis has saved many a drunken soul from a night of debauchery with his special "triple hot sauce flaky pork rinds" which reportedly can sober up a person in 90 seconds. As Otis says "Destiny is not a matter of fate but a matter of choice." Little Otis was born one of seven children in Faraday, Louisiana, on April 29, 1934. As a child, Cortez worked as a barber giving "bootleg haircuts" to help his mother. His specialty was "bowl cuts" where he placed a huge soup bowl over his clients heads and cut whatever protruded from underneath. It’s said The Beatles adopted Cortez bowl cut look after seeing a picture of one of his clients in a 1958 Jet magazine article on Detroit Blues singer Sweet Dick Willie - a longtime Little Otis band mate and door to door meat salesman. Life on the jump blues road is certainly strange. He moved to Detroit in 1948, where he learned to play the guitar, playing it upside down and left-handed while simultaneously blowing harmonica. That's when he discovered that he could play, create, and write songs for himself. By 1954 he had begun to play the guitar in earnest, inspired first by the rugged Delta blues of Muddy Waters and Howlin' Wolf and then by the recordings of B.B and Albert King.
